Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen has been honored with the prestigious Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice.

Former Miss World Sushmita Sen, who had won appreciation by expressing admiration for Mother Teresa during her pageant in 1994, shared the news on Twitter.

“Beautiful people 'The Mother Teresa International Award' I received last night. Precious,” Sushmita Sen posted on her Twitter page.

"What an overwhelming feeling to receive an award named after 'Mother' and with past recipients like His Holiness Dalai Lama and Malala Yousafzai," she tweeted.

Currently in its sixth edition, the award ceremony is an initiative that highlights various endeavors taken up by individuals and NGO's to promote peace and social justice.

Sushmita Sen is a mother of two beautiful adopted daughters - Alisah and Renee.
