Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Zanjeer’ remake and her cousin Parineeti Chopra’s ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ are scheduled to release on the same day on September 6th. Instead of worrying about the clash at the box-office the cousins have decided to celebrate the ‘Chopra weekend’.
“The way I see it, it's a Chopra weekend. So go and enjoy the movies,” said Priyanka Chopra to IANS.
“She (Parineeti) is my family and she is my sister," she added.
‘Zanjeer’ is a remake of 1973 blockbuster movie of same name. The movie is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Amit Mehra. The movie marks the debut of southern superstar Ram Charan Teja.
On the other hand, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ is directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra. The movie stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra, debutant Vaani Kapoor and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor.
Priyanka Chopra feels that pitting her against her sister to create controversy is very cheap.
“I think it is very cheap when people try and use that (same day release of our films) for creating some sort of interesting controversy, so that you can write a bit more about it,” she said.
Parineeti Chopra too is unfazed about the competition and said that she would watch Priyanka’s movie, while Priyanka watches hers.
“It's just happens that her (Priyanka) film and my film are releasing together, but it doesn't affect us. I will watch her picture and she will watch mine and you all will watch both the films,” concluded Parineeti Chopra.
