‘Dedh Ishqiya’, a sequel to 2010 hit movie ‘Ishqiya’, stars Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi as female leads, while Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah will reprise their characters as conmen from ‘Ishqiya’.
Though Arshad Warsi is looking forward to act with Madhuri Dixit, he said that he is glad that he isn’t paired opposite Madhuri Dixit as that would have been awkward.
“I love Madhuri, but I am not paired with her. I am with Huma. I think Madhuri and I would have looked odd,” said Arshad Warsi to IANS.
‘Dedh Ishqiya’ will see Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah move from Gorakhpur (where ‘Ishqiya’ was set) to Lucknow and meet a highly cultured Muslim family that includes Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi. While Naseeruddin Shah will romance Madhuri, Arshad Warsi will romance Huma Qureshi.
After many delays the movie finally went on floor this month.
“We are starting to shoot for the film. It is a very good film,” he said.
Director Abhishek Chaubey, who directed ‘Ishqiya’, is all set to direct the sequel. Previously the director had stated that with ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ he hopes to revive the near-extinct Muslim social genre of Indian Cinema.
The movie will be produced by Vishal Bhardwaj, who produced ‘Ishqiya’ as well.
