Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, who were blessed with a beautiful baby girl on September 25, have decided to name their baby Nitara Khanna Bhatia.
The couple decided to include the surname ‘Khanna’ as a tribute to Twinkle Khanna’s father and legendary superstar late Rajesh Khanna.
“After Kaka’s demise, Akshay was clear that he wanted his daughter to have Khanna as her second name followed by his original family name. It’s his way of paying respect to Kaka, whom he was always very fond of,” said a source close to the family to a daily.
The source revealed that both Akshay and Twinkle had together selected the name Nitara.
“Both Akshay and Twinkle thought of the name together. The idea was to come up with a unique, yet meaningful, name. Essentially, it’s a Sanskrit word, which means ‘having deep roots’. The duo had zeroed in on a couple of other names but since they were equally excited about Nitara, they agreed upon it almost instantly,” the source added.
But the couple is yet to make an official announcement about the name.
“Akshay will make it (the name) public soon because he doesn’t want any drama surrounding his daughter since it’s a very special time for him and his family. Right now, he is spending some quality time with them,” the source said.
Akshay Kumar’s latest production venture ‘Oh My God’ that released days after Nitara’s birth has been successful at the box-office.
“When she was born, his film was going to release amidst a lot of buzz. So, he considers Nitara as his big lucky charm. Aarav is as excited as his dad about his baby sister,” the source concluded.
