One of the major criticisms coming Bollywood’s way is that most Bollywood movies revolve around their heroes and the heroines just add the glamour quotient in them.
Even though for past years woman centric movies have been made like ‘Fashion’, ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Saath Khoon Maaf’, ‘Kahaani’, there is no denying that many movies still remain hero centric.
But actress Katrina Kaif said that she makes a conscious decision to sign the movies in which she has a substantial role.
The actress who will seen with Aamir Khan in ‘Dhoom 3’, Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Chopra’s untitled projected and Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ said that she was more than a glamorous quotient in those movies.
“I’m grateful to my makers that I`m not just an ornament in a Khan film. My roles have substance,” said Katrina Kaif to a daily.
The actress said that things can get tricky sometimes as you might want to sign a movie just because you want to work with the actor whom you admire.
“This can be a tricky situation. One can be tempted to sign a project because you want to work with an actor whom you admire but it is also equally important to have a credible role in such a project,” she said.
“I have been asked whether I`m just going to be an ornament in any of my Khan films. Well I can say that — Salman is holding the fort; but my role has credibility. Kabir will never write a candy floss role for his heroine,” she further added.
Katrina Kaif though admits that she can never reach the heights that Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have reached.
“As for the Khans — I don`t think anyone can be them. Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman are phenomenon. To achieve that magnitude of popularity and remain heartthrobs for over two decades is not an easy feat,” she concluded.
The actress next movie ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ directed by Kabir Khan is all set to release this Independence Day August 15.
