Actress Priyanka Chopra along with her ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ co-star Shahid Kapoor flew down to Melbourne recently, not only to promote their movie but also to launch the 12 day long Indian Film Festival there.

This Film Festival follows the recently held International Indian Film Academy Awards at Singapore, where the world premier of Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Shanghai’ took place.

According to actress Priyanka Chopra, the reason for the premiers of Indian movies being held outside India is that Indian movies are now being noticed worldwide.

“What we offer as Indian movies is color and culture and music and celebration and drama and love, and I think that's representative of our culture. I think Indian movies are going beyond just the shores of India or the South-Asian subcontinent - it's going all over the world,” said Priyanka Chopra during a press conference in Melbourne.

Actor Shahid Kapoor feels that Indian Films standout from others because our movies are quite different from other movies.

“I think what's beautiful about our films is that they're different from the kind of films that people get to see otherwise, and I think that's why we kind of stand out,” he said.

The director of the Film Festival, Mitu Bhowmick Lange, revealed that during this 12 day event 40 movies will be screened and this will also include the premier of ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’.

“It's just about bringing these two worlds as close as possible and being this really good, fun, cultural bridge between the two countries,” he said.

Directed by Kunal Kohli the movie will be releasing on June 22, 2012.
