There were rumors that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor will be tying knot as soon as their home production movie ‘Agent Vinod’ releases. But Kareena Kapoor denied the rumors and said that she would be tying knot only at the end of the year.
“I will get married hopefully by the end of this year... because I am busy doing `Heroine` and I have to finish the film first. We are not yet going to announce the date. We are in no such rush but it will happen this year,” she said.
The actress said that she doesn’t consider herself a ‘star’.
“I am actually just a simple girl in love whose dreams have come true. Ever since I was 9 I would see Karisma (sister) rehearse and I would go backstage and repeat the same things. I always wanted to act and I know nothing other than acting. I have no degree and so I hope to act forever,” she said.
The actress is currently busy shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar movie ‘Heroine’.
“It’s turning out pretty well... It’s an exciting journey of an actress, she is slightly schizophrenic and she has got these different mood swings it’s very difficult for me to do...But I am glad there is a role like this. It is fun not to stand behind Shahrukh and Salman in a movie but prove yourself as an actor,” she said.
The actress admits that ever since ‘The Dirty Picture’ things in Bollywood have changed and she is being offered more women centric roles now.
“There are a lot of women-centric roles that I am being offered and not just being an eye candy in the film. I think Vidya Balan’s `Dirty Picture` has changed the entire game,” she said.
Kareena Kapoor though admitted that no matter how much things change in Bollywood the industry will still remain a male dominated industry. She also admitted that heroines aren’t paid half as much as heroes are.
“How much ever things change in Bollywood, male actors have always been paid more than females... when it comes to numbers I am nowhere close to any of the Khans. So for me it’s not about replacing the men in our industry but doing the best I can,” she said.
When asked if she would have done ‘The Dirty Picture’ she said, “I don’t know if I would have taken the risk but even if I did I would have balanced it out by making sure there is a Salman or Shahrukh in the film so that even if the film flops there is something that will balance it”.
The actress said that though good scripts are cropping up in Bollywood its still star power that works.
“There are a lot of director who come to me with brilliant scripts but don’t have the money to finance it. But our industry sadly doesn’t run only on good scripts, `Bodyguard` wasn’t one of the best scripts but it earned so much because of Salman in it,” she said.
Kareena Kapoor will be soon seen on big screen on March 23rd in ‘Agent Vinod’ alongside her beau Saif Ali Khan.
