Maestro Ilaiyaraaja suffered a huge loss when, his wife, Jeeva passed away in the late hours on Monday due to cardiac arrest at Apollo Hospital, Chennai. She is survived by Ilaiyaraaja, sons Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja and daughter Bhavatharani. The entire film industry expressed deep shock over her sudden death. Several celebrities rushed to Ilaiyaraaja’s house and offered condolences to the bereaved family members. 

The incident happened when Ilaiyaraaja was in Hyderabad to attend the audio success meet and first look posters release of his latest movie ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’. Jeeva complained of chest pain and was rushed to nearby Apollo Hospital at 9:30 pm. The doctors announced that she was brought dead.

Jeeva underwent bypass surgery five years ago following heart complaints. The last rites will be performed tomorrow at her native place Pannaipuram.
